Annotatsiya

The ability to write an effective abstract and literature review is essential for academic success and research communication. These two genres serve distinct yet interconnected purposes within scholarly writing. The abstract provides a concise summary of a study, enabling readers to quickly understand its purpose, methodology, findings, and significance. The literature review, on the other hand, demonstrates a researcher’s understanding of existing knowledge, identifies research gaps, and establishes the theoretical foundation for a study. For English as a Foreign Language (EFL) students, mastering these genres is often challenging because they require not only linguistic competence but also critical thinking and disciplinary awareness. This article discusses the importance of teaching abstract and literature review writing, examines common challenges faced by EFL learners, and proposes pedagogical strategies for improving instruction in these essential academic genres.
