ASSESSMENT OF THE ECONOMIC AND ENVIRONMENTAL EFFICIENCY OF IMPLEMENTING THE VETERINARY INFORMATION EXCHANGE AUTOMATED INFORMATION SYSTEM (VIEAIS)

This article evaluates the economic and environmental efficiency of implementing the Veterinary Information Exchange Automated Information System (VIEAIS), which is used in veterinary control and foreign trade clearance processes. The study compares traditional paper-based document management with electronic data exchange mechanisms. The calculation results indicate that the digitalization of document exchange can reduce paper consumption by up to 95%, resulting in annual savings of 18.24 million sheets of paper, 91.2 tons of paper resources, and up to USD 273 thousand. Furthermore, it is demonstrated that the implementation of the system can contribute to preserving approximately 2,145 trees annually.
