Abstract

This article examines the popular uprisings and social movements that took place in Samarkand during the second half of the 19th and early 20th centuries, using historical and analytical methods. The study investigates various forms of protest and resistance that emerged in the context of Russian imperial colonial policies, their impact on the local population, tax and land reforms, and the socio-cultural transformations of the city. The article reveals how Samarkand became a center of anti-colonial activity during this period. The research draws on Russian imperial archival documents, gubernatorial reports, periodical press, and local sources.
