In this thesis, the genre of fable as well as the role of allegory and moral instruction in the works of Ivan Andreyevich Krylov are analyzed. The purpose of the research is to reveal the educational significance and artistic features of fables. The genre of fable plays an important role in highlighting social shortcomings, human vices, and moral values, and it is based on specific artistic devices. The study examined the lexical-stylistic features of I. A. Krylov’s fables, allegorical images, satirical means of expression, and moral conclusions. In Krylov’s works, human characters and social problems are symbolically represented through animal images. In addition, the use of folk language, irony, repetition, and imagery in the fables was analyzed. Based on sources of Russian literature, examples from the famous fables of I. A. Krylov were provided. As a result, it was determined that allegory and moral instruction are the main artistic principles of the fable genre and serve as an important means of moral education for the younger generation.
