This article examines, from a sociological perspective, how women‘s social roles and economic responsibilities within the family are transformed under conditions of labour migration. Migration expands household financial opportunities through remittances, yet it also increases women‘s responsibilities for everyday household management, childrearing, care for older relatives, kinship coordination and emotional stability. Migration is therefore analysed not only as an economic process but also as a factor reshaping gender roles, marital relations, intra-family decision-making and social protection mechanisms. Drawing on international sources, official statistics and academic literature, the article argues for a gender-sensitive approach to migration policy and support services for migrant families.
