The article examines the main ecological and physiological factors affecting the growth and development of microalgae. The effects of light intensity, temperature, pH, nutrient composition and salinity on biomass productivity are analyzed. Modern approaches to cultivation management aimed at increasing biomass yield are discussed. The prospects of using microalgae in biofuel production, pharmaceuticals, food industry and environmental technologies are highlighted
