In recent years, the use of plant fibers has increased significantly due to notable changes in their chemical and physical properties. Plants require light, water, and nutrients to grow, reproduce, and produce effective yields. Plant nutrients are primarily absorbed from the soil by plant roots. It is very important that the soil creates a favorable environment for root development so that plants can adequately utilize it. Water exists in the soil as a thin film with properties that differ greatly from those of the same water in bulk form. The organic component forms complex interactions with the soil's water, minerals, soluble substances, and microorganisms, which increases the complexity of the system. Furthermore, soil is a dynamic open system that is constantly subject to inputs and losses of energy, water, organic and inorganic materials, and provides structural support to the plant. The physical, chemical, and biological properties of the soil lead to a number of physiological, biological, and chemical changes, along with the growth, productivity, and quality of plant biomass and, consequently, plant fibers.
