In this scientific thesis, the tragic and miraculous pages of the life and work of Maqsud Shayxzoda, a prominent figure of 20th-century Uzbek literature, poet, playwright, translator, and literary scholar, are thoroughly investigated. The study analyzes the spiritual discovery of a motherland by the writer—who was born in Azerbaijan and arrived in Uzbekistan due to political persecution and exile—and his invaluable contribution to Uzbek language and culture based on standard academic criteria. The thesis examines Shayxzoda’s dramatic works ('Jaloliddin Manguberdi', 'Mirzo Ulug‘bek'), lyrical heritage, and his resilience during the years of Soviet repressions through literarybiographical methodologies.
