The National Education System in Turkestan and Russia’s Attitude Toward It

This article examines the state of the national education system in the Turkestan region during the period of Tsarist Russian colonialism, the historical functions of traditional educational institutions — maktabs and madrasas — their transformation during the reform process, and the policy of the Russian imperial administration in this sphere. The reformist activities of the Jadid movement in the field of education, the establishment of new-method schools, and the colonial administration‘s response to this process are analyzed. The study employs historical-genetic and comparative methods and relies on primary sources, archival documents, and contemporary historical literature.
