This article examines the European Union’s green energy diplomacy in Central Asia within the framework of the Global Gateway initiative. The study highlights the role of the EU’s decarbonization and energy security policies as key drivers of its growing engagement with the region. Particular attention is paid to Central Asia’s renewable energy potential, including solar and wind power resources, as well as opportunities for green hydrogen production. The paper also analyzes the institutional foundations of EU–Central Asia cooperation, investment opportunities, and existing geopolitical constraints. The findings suggest that Central Asia has significant potential to become a strategic partner for the European Union in diversifying energy sources and advancing its green transition objectives. However, infrastructure gaps, logistical challenges, technological limitations, and geopolitical competition remain major obstacles to the effective implementation of this partnership.
