This article analyzes the issues of developing students' oral and written speech competencies in native language lessons from a scientific, theoretical and practical perspective. The importance of the educational process organized on the basis of a competency-based approach in developing speech is revealed. The role of interactive methods, modern pedagogical technologies and creative tasks in increasing students' speech activity is also highlighted. The results of the study are significant in that they serve to increase the effectiveness of developing oral and written speech in native language lessons.
