Abstract

This article explores the effectiveness of Game-Based Learning and Free Play in language teaching. Game-Based Learning is viewed as a structured, goal-oriented method that improves vocabulary, grammar, and learner motivation through designed activities and rules. Free Play, in contrast, is an unstructured approach that encourages spontaneous communication, creativity, and natural language use. Although based on different pedagogical principles, both approaches aim to develop communicative competence. The article suggests that combining these methods can enhance language learning by balancing structured input with natural interaction.
