This article covers the theoretical and practical aspects of teaching the analysis of a work of art in the process of literary education. The importance of in-depth study of a work of art in the formation of artistic thinking, independent thinking and analytical competencies in students is revealed. Furthermore, the role of modern pedagogical technologies, interactive methods, and a competency-based approach in the analysis of a work of art is scientifically and methodologically substantiated.
